A BIG Find: Snakes in Muscogee County, Georgia

People have a tendency to over exaggerate; if they go fishing, a 6-inch fish becomes a 2 footer; if they go running, 2 miles turns into 4; and if they go hunting the small 2-pointer they saw becomes a larger than life elk.  So you can’t blame me when I got a call about a 6-foot python in someone’s backyard, I just assumed I was dealing with something closer to 4-feet.  Boy, was I wrong.  I got to the property and moved towards the cluster of people on the edge of the fence-line, and as I got closer the reality of the situation started to play out.

I stepped up and watched as the previously assumed 6-foot snake stretched itself out and lifted the front part of its body off the ground.  I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, this thing was well over 6-feet.  To be as exact as I can, it measured in at around 11-feet long.  That was when I realized that the snake pole I had brought was probably not going to be enough.  I jumped the fence and stood alongside the snake, sizing it up and trying to plot out my next move.  I couldn’t just pick it up, I had nowhere to put it and it would wrap itself around me long before I could move it somewhere more convenient.  Just then I spotted an empty trash bin and knew exactly what I would do.

I had someone in the crowd hand me the trash can and I set it securely between to rocks so it wouldn’t tip over, then I carefully put the snake tongs around his head so he couldn’t strike out and me and I grabbed him by the belly, dropped him into the trash can, and popped the lid on it before securing it down with rope.  It was a pretty big story around town, and I’ll admit that it’s one of my favorites, too.

Wildlife Removal Services removes all sorts of wild animals and birds from residential and commercial properties, including bats, snakes, pigeons, skunks, raccoons, swallows, woodpeckers, voles, beavers, and rodents of every kind. Wild animals on your property can damage vegetation and structures and reduce property value. They also bring disease and a host of insect pests with them, which can adversely affect you, your family, and your pets. In your walls, in your attic, or on your roof wild animals can keep you up at night and their urine and droppings create a horrific smell. After my technicians and I perform wild animal removal, we can provide cleanup, sanitization, and deodorization to help restore your property; we can also provide exclusion services to keep your wildlife problem from recurring. Whether the problem is a colony of bats in a building, raccoons in the attic, or destructive behaviors of critters such as squirrels, gophers and pigeons, we can solve it.

We resolve many types of wildlife control conflicts in Muscogee County and surrounding areas. Give me a call if you need expert animal removal and/or live wildlife trapping. We can also perform an inspection of your property to evaluate the problem.

The situations we resolve and main trapping and removal services we provide are: raccoon families in attics and chimneys, woodpeckers drilling siding. mud swallow nests on stucco, rats or squirrels thumping and bumping around inside walls and in attics, voles and gophers destroying lawns, skunks stealing pet food, bat infestations, and snakes living in crawlspaces and stone walls.

Along with physical damage and disease, wild animals also bring along disturbance and nuisance with all their commotion and smell. Raccoons and rats will fight all night and keep people awake; baby raccoons chirp and chitter like little birds; skunk smell takes the cake, but have you ever smelled a dead animal in your ventilation system? We have seen much, much more than these problems, but that is a general idea of the kinds of problems that I and my professional wildlife removal operators are prepared to solve.

Not only do my technicians and I trap and remove problem wild animals, we do a lot of other dirty work, too. Don’t hesitate to call us for dead animal removal, bat guano cleanup, pigeon waste removal, mouse dropping cleanup, decontamination, repairs, above ground and below ground rodent slick fencing, odor control for skunk spray, and the like. We are a full service pest control company with a wide range of animal control solutions.

Customers gone Batty

Not to feed any stereotypes, but women can be quite jumpy around wildlife.  And it’s not just with snakes, either.  I’ll never be able to expect what reaction I’ll get from customers when I show them the animal I’ve caught.  Once, I pulled a dead rat from a wall cavity and the husband screamed and passed out on the couch at the sight of it – which actually happens more than you would think, with all customers.  Other times I’ll hold out large snakes I’ve caught, and been caught off guard when the small woman that hired me asks if she can hold it, or once she even asked if I thought she would be able to house train it?

Watching people’s reactions to my work is one of the little pleasures I get out of it; of course there are others, but this is just one of my favorites.  Once, a woman had called me because she had seen a bat in her living room.  We went to both do an inspection for more bats, and to find and (if we could) safely remove the bat she saw.  We worked on both simultaneously until we were sure there were no more bats, and then we turned our full attention to finding the one that had snuck its way inside.  After about 30 minutes with no luck, we assumed that it had gotten back out and wasn’t a problem.  That was until the wife went to go to the bathroom, and started screaming.

In the bathroom, just hanging inside of the toilet, was the missing bat.  Something you definitely don’t expect to see when going to relieve yourself, although I’m not sure how badly she had to use the restroom after the scare she got.
